Lucky girls training on Lanzarote |
|
maandag 01 februari 2010 |
We are some Lucky girls! Gonny Rosendaal and I flew to Lanzarote on Saturday the 30th. Great day for leaving the Netherlands while it had been snowing again the night before we went. With our bikes, big pile of traininggear and about seven books we entered the plane and landed hours later on a sunny island. On the island Mariska en Sjaco Kramer waited for us to lead us to our apartment in Tinajo and later that night we had very good dinner with Mariska, Sjaco and Sjaco’s very nice parents. They were to leave the next morning, although Mariska wasn’t too keen on leaving with all that snow back home! We tried to let her stay, but we never heard of her again. So she much have gotten on the plane with her spouse and parents in law (thank you dear friend Eveline!).

Custom made clothes from Carvalho Custom |
|
woensdag 13 januari 2010 |
This season I can try out custom made clothing from Carvalho Custom. Carvalho Custom is based in Portugal and is one of Europe's leading suppliers of custom cycling and triathlon clothing and other team sports kit. They sell custom kit all over the world directly from Portugal, cutting out the middle man to make them one of the most competitive suppliers of pro quality personalised sports clothing. Carvalho Custom can provide full custom kit with no limit on colours and logos as well as a lower cost semi-custom option, using their online cycling jersey design templates. As you can see on the pictures, the clothes look great and have a perfect fit. Just yesterday I just tried out the Drystorm winter cycling jacket, which has a stretchy, comfortable fit. Carvalho Custom also added a water repelant treatment to encourage water to bead of and it's breathablity is excellent. It is a very warm jacket, as it has a microfibre insulation layer, as well as the breathable/waterproof/windproof membrane. Carvalho Custom asked me to try out the clothing and give them feedback on anything I come across wearing and using the clothes to use this feedback to improve their kit. Want to know more about Carvalho Custom and what they can do for your sporting club or company, visit their website and check it out! |

No races in Egmond, just training |
|
maandag 11 januari 2010 |
What could have been a splendid race weekend with a mountainbike race on the beach on Saturday and running a half marathon on Sunday (also on the beach), became an easy trainingweekend. Due to bad weather predictions both events were called off at the last minute. So there we were, with friends Sandra and Mathijm and their two children Vera and Ingmar and Jip Veelenturf (young triathlete with great potential, watch out for her!) in a rented house in Egmond aan Zee. But a lot of other triathlonfriends where in Egmond too, so via twitter Rick, Mathijm, Jip and I met with Gonny Rosendaal en Marc van der Kort for a nice bikeride. On the beach off course. Because the weather was not that bad and even the sun paid us a visit!

Time flies when you’re having fun. The past weeks I’ve been doing a lot of nice things. Like cycling in the mud and rain with triathlete friends, have the some of the best swimmers in the country swim circles around me during swimmingssessions (one of them just made European Champion in Istanbul last weekend and the others are all aiming for the Dutch national swimming championships coming up this weekend) and riding a bicycle to work that doesn’t really deserve the name bicycle. I’ve also been sick with the flu just a week ago. Right before Rick and I took off to a lovely place called Los Christianos in Tenerife (The Canary Islands). We’ve arrived on Friday as I was still recovering from the flu. But hey, the weather is good, temperature a lot better than in the Netherlands and I have the best company!

The first few weeks of the schedule to IRONMAN South Africa lay behind me. It's been weeks with ups and downs to get into that ritme. But I'm getting there. We've had zome nice weekends mountainbiking in the forests of Apeldoorn and Soest and even went riding the bike on the beach. Which was great! My body isn't ready at all for the hard stuff. Fortunately the pace is relaxed and easy. |
