It's really not working for me this winter. Although I try my best to keep healthy and strong, it seems I'm getting more germs than good for me. The trainings go up and down and the cold weather is not really helping. I did manage to run a new personal besttime though of 1.19.08! It was in de 20 km of Alphen with my teammates from Davilex. We ran for subsponsor Pluto Sports and tried our best to win the business run. And yes, the team where Gerbert, Erik Simon and I were running won the thing! Although Edo claimed that his team had won if his time was registered. Sorry Edo, I don't think so! |

 One week back in snowy Netherlands it's hard to pick up the great spirit Gonny and I had in back in Lanzarote. The trainingsdays were kicking in and getting back to work took more energie of me than I thought. But hey, nine weeks untill IRONMAN South Africa, so we have time to put the dots were they belong. This weekend was extra special, because we had to babysit our niece Saar. She's the four months old daughter of Ricks brother Wout en his wife Frouke. Although we're not used to having a baby in the house, I think the three of us did really well. When we finally found out that Saar loves to hear people sing kidsongs, we couldn't get that smile off her face. Today I brought her back home on my way to Apeldoorn. That's were I was supposed to run a 27,5 kilometre runrace. Ans that brought me a lot of fun and a third place in the womensfield!

Yes, it’s true! This year I’ve become an official member of the Davilexteam. This professional triathlonteam focuses mainly on long distance races and supports some promising long distance athletes and some really strong ones already! Because one of the teammembers, Sione Jongstra, stepped out because of a changing sportscareer (she went over to cycling due to an injury), the team had a spot left for a long distance female athlete. And I’m proud that they choose me to get into the team. The team exists of Gerbert van de Biggelaar, Erik-Simon Strijk, Danne Boterenbrood (aiming for the Olympics in 2011, you go girl!), Huib Rost and Dave Rost. Teammanagers are Jan van de Marel and Gees Veenboer, both known in triathlon world and familiar with what it takes to get to an higher level in triathlon. |

Falling in love with Lanzarote |

 First of all: Happy Birthday DAD! Sorry I'm not at home. But I'm thinking about you the whole day! Big kiss from a lovely island...
I never understood what all those athletes saw in Lanzarote. Untill now. I'm honoustly falling for this special island with its hills, vulcano's and beautifull sights. Yesterday we did a long ride over the Lanzarote hills. The climb to Haria, Mirador del Rio and last but not least Timanfaya. It's also the most of the Lanzarote IRONMAN cycling course. The legs were not too bad yesterday and I was able to ride the planned kilometres. It took some time, but hey, who's complaining when the sun is shining and the only thing to do on this day is cycling! I had the company of Yvonne and Gonny and that made the whole ride a lot easier. Talking, talking and some more talking makes the clock tick really fast. As they say, time flies when you're having fun! |
